Enhancing Smart Grid Security with Predictive Algorithms

Cybersecurity threats and failure of sensors are both critical challenges facing modern smart grids. In this research paper, we present a multisensor temporal prediction algorithm to enhance wide area monitoring and control systems (WAMCS). This algorithm analyzes the synchrophasor data in real time to detect anomalies due to either equipment failure or malicious attack, thus assisting in maintaining voltage stability and operational reliability. Our approach has been validated through a software-in-the-loop test environment and shows the potential for predictive intelligence to enhance the security of cyber-physical systems. This research is a must-read for anyone looking into improving the resilience of the smart grid or developing better control techniques.
